A lovely first show

Numbers were slightly down this year, due in part to clashing with a couple of events and party-goers from the night before unable to raise their weary heads, however Judge, Lisa Lane said that she was amazed at the quality of the horses and ponies forward and congratulated all competitors on how they were turned out so early in the season – they had clearly been working hard over the winter.

Adult Champion was Lauren Allin and the ever-consistent Finbarr with Alex St Aubyn and Taffechan Rough Diamond in reserve.  Junior rider Millie Somerfield took Junior Champion at her very first show, having only had four side saddle lessons before-hand.  Her pony Penny has taken to it immediately and these two look set for great success in the future.  Junior Reserve was Ayisha Longdon who has worked really hard with her pony Rebel and they are coming on in leaps and bounds.

Huge thanks to Committee members able to attend today to keep the day running smoothly, to Wellow Equestrian for the use of their facilities and to Mark Fettes of Emmelleff Photography – we can’t wait to see the photos and will post these on-line in due course.

Next Area show is 28th May at Pleasley – pre-entry and entries taken on the day.  Prize money in all classes (check schedule for all details), BBQ, Raffle Prizes, trophies….. spectators welcome.
